1968 Drink Coca Cola Light Up Clock Domed Glass, Swihart Products Steel Case 16"

Sold on eBay October 1st, 2023

1968 Drink Coca Cola Light Up Clock Domed Glass, Swihart Products Steel Case 16"

eBay Nice 1960's "DRINK COCA-COLA" Light Up Domed Glass ClockApprox: 16" H x 13" W x 4" D, 6 lbs, Very Solid & Works GreatSwihart Products, Elwood INUS SHIPPING ONLY due to recent shipping problems Reduced!Great display pop to this vintage domed glass "Coke" beauty! Per our research, this clock was the last Coca Cola clock made by Swihart Products and from what we have found they produced it from late 1960's to 1971. They made this model in both a light up and non lighting version. We obtained from a private collector's estate along with other Coca Cola signs and other. Swihart Products made clocks for Coca Cola from the late 1940's and until 1971. They made clocks for many other business' as well. This still had a tag from where owner purchased clock decades back on the bottom and it is marked 1968, which appears fitting for the time of production and it has an earlier serial number than some we found marked from 1969.This clock is in very good, but not pristine condition as shown in pictures. The case has some general wear and scuffs, but the glass and clock plastic image plate are in great shape with only a few small imperfections. There is some darkening to the image plate from age and a few little dark lines between the 5 & 6 on face as well, but overall has a great look as shown in pictures. The time adjuster knob on bottom also works well. We only gently cleaned the clock and did not try to clean internal parts or rear of the face plate as noted. We ran the clock for several hours and it functioned quite well. It takes a single florescent oval bulb as shown in pictures. Please note: We will ship with the light bulb in place but with soft paper in front and back of bulb to prevent movement, do not plug the clock in or run clock without removing inside paper packing first!!! The rear cover plate comes off by simply slipping it down and then back up to remove, Do this by first moving back panel up slightly until tabs are free from bottom edge, then gently press in the tabs that rest on bottom of plate to allow the cover to slide down past the edge, then once the top of the plate is under the upper edge of opening, you can flip panel back and out. Kind of goes back in with a reverse process of course. Then just very gently remove the soft paper. As a note, these round florescent bulbs are easily found available on eBay or other and made by a number of companies in case you need to replace one. It is a type FC8T9/CW Fluorescent 22W 8", usually from $10 to $20.Please review all pictures taken for your consideration and use zoom feature if needed. We took pictures of all sides and in different light settings to try and capture as best we could. Let us know if you have any questions. We have given all the information we could find on the clock and have tried to describe as best we could for buyers. We have sold lots of vintage Coca Cola collectibles over the years and some of the nicest pieces ever offered on eBay, but we do not consider ourselves experts as the collectible field for Coke is so vast. Vintage BRUCE MCCOMBS 'Street Corner' URBAN Pop Art Scene ETCHING - Coca Cola

Vintage BRUCE MCCOMBS 'Street Corner' URBAN Pop Art Scene ETCHING - Coca Cola

ORIGINAL 1975 BRUCE MCCOMB (b 1943) 'STREET CORNER' SIGNED LIMITED EDITION ETCHINGThis is just a great original piece. I have had one other Bruce McCombs etching in the past and it hung in my house for many years. His city views are really spectacular and this one is really one of his biggest and best. For those not familiar with the artist, I have included his biography below. This is a wonderful city view looking at a store on the corner and the roads going both ways down from the store. It is just a wonderful city view with all the store signs and the advertising. There are at least a couple larger Coke ads including a billboard with Santa drinking a coke. The artist even added 2 old cars on each road to make the print have even more depth. Etching on paper with the image measures 23 1/4 x 35 1/2 on complete original sheet measuring 25 1/2 x 38 inches. Signed, titled, and numbered in pencil below the image. Wonderful crisp and clean impression. There is a faint matte box around the outside of the image in the margins but nothing too bad. Really a wonderful print. Unframed. Print is stored in a tube and will be shipped that way. FREE SHIPPING ANYWHERE IN THE UNITED STATES! For those not familiar with the artist, his biography from a gallery that sells the artist's work reads: "Bruce McCombs has a way of turning our ordinary surroundings into spectacular displays and colorful reflections. The artist works from original photographs which he reconstructs to create magnificent new compositions His subjects include urban settings: like NYC and his hometown of Cleveland, architecture, neon signs, planes, trains and vintage automobiles. Bruce McCombs received his BFA from the Cleveland Institute of Art and his MFA degree from Tulane University. Most recently, his work has appeared in shows in Norway, Taiwan, Columbia, and the former Yugoslavia, among others. McCombs’s artwork is a part of many important collections including: The Whitney Museum of American Art, The Cleveland Museum of Art, the Library of Congress, Washington D.C. and the National Museum of Fine Arts in Hanoi, Vietnam. McCombs teaches art at Hope College in Michigan, where he has been part of the faculty since 1969. “From a distance, my paintings often appear to be a rendered depiction of a scene, but upon closer viewing, the parts are revealed as abstract pieces, built one layer upon another into realistic images.” -Bruce McCombs Bruce McCombs artist statement "Beginning in the early sixties....(or 60's...) when I was at the Cleveland Institute of Art and later when at Tulane University In New Orleans, I worked primarily in the medium of etching. From 1970 through 1991, I produced approximately 100 large format prints. Their sizes were either 22" x 28" or 24" x 36". Because I had a sabbatical opportunity in 1990 to live in the UK for a period of time, I had to give up etching and find another medium. Since I had a print studio at my home, I had never been at a loss for facilities to etch and print. But, I would not have a print studio available in England. This prompted me to propose a sabbatical leave exploring watercolor painting. My love of photography was influential in developing my watercolor subject matter and style. Perhaps, the patience that I needed to work on etching plates (sometimes 3-5 months in developing) helped me use that same patient approach to watercolor because I develop my paintings with extensive glazing. When I returned to the states, I did a few more etchings, but realized that there was now an opportunity to explore and develop my art with watercolor, in color and in the positive. My etchings were in black & white (not required), and all plates are worked in reverse so the immediacy of watercolor was very satisfying. Subsequently, in 1992, I abandoned etchings altogether and have since worked exclusively in watercolor. The dimensions of the watercolor paintings are similar to my etchings (22" x 28" & 24" x 36") which were a comfortable size. Traveling has been helpful, because I especially enjoy architectural and automotive subjects and they are always available. When I photograph possible subjects, I compose but when I am ready to start a new painting, I rework and cut up the photo. I have used locations from our visits to the UK, Europe, Eastern Europe and many cities in the United States. Although distinctive landmarks turn up in my work, there are universal aspect to the cities and countries we have seen. What amazes me is that everything looks different when I travel because I am really looking and open to new subject matter, points of view and lighting. " CHECK THE PICTURES ON THIS GREAT PIECE. DONT MISS THIS OPPORTUNITY. Shipping and handling can be calculated based on the ebay shipping calculator. If you have any questions regarding the work, please dont hesitate to ask. Pictures are an excellent indication of condition. Though the shipping says it will take 5 days of handling, usually items are shipped much faster and if you pay right away, the item most likely will go out in the next day or two.
