The same style of can and apparatus that went to outer space on the shuttle Challenger in 1985. RARE 1985 Coca Cola " First Taste In Space " Coke Space Can Challenger One
Condition is very good. This Coca Cola Space Can was designed to go into space. A few cans did make it to space. Very few were made for some Coca Cola partners, executives and museums. This space can was given to my Father in Law by the president of Coca Cola at the time - Donald R. Keough. My Father in Law was an avid Coca Cola collector. He knew Mr. Keough personally therefore was given this Space Can as a gift. I have enclosed in the packaging a couple letters from Mr. Keough explaining the can. On July 30th 1985 astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger tested Coca Cola in the Space Can, making this the first soft drink to be consumed in space. The Lucite display is 9' high x 8" wide x6" deep. I would grade the can as in very good condition with a couple small dents in the back as shown in the photos. This could have been the result of when the can was made. (Condition: Pre-Owned)

1985 Coca Cola First Taste In Space Coke Space Can Challenger One of only 200!This is one of only 200 Coca Cola cans designed to be used in space. A few of the cans were sent to space on the Space Shuttle Challenger in July 1985. The other ones were given to Coca Cola partners, executives and museums. No cans were ever originally sold, making this an extremely rare collectors item.The top of the can is affixed to a plastic and metal nozzle that allows the soda to retain its carbonation. The side of the can has a strip of Velcro to help it stay put while onboard the Shuttle in space.On July 30th, 1985 astronauts aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger tasted Coca-Cola in the "space can", making this the first soft drink to be consumed in space.The item is in overall very good used condition. The Lucite display stand has some small scratches underneath the base. The can has several dents and crumples but it displays extremely well. RARE 1985 Coca Cola First Taste In Space Can And Display WOW!!!
What a find! A absolute must have for a Coca Cola collector. 6 -10 cans made it into space, others were made for testing , some for "just in case". One can was given to the Smithsonian. These displays were made in very limited quantities and only given out to a few lucky Coca Cola Bottling VIPs and managers. These do not come up for sale very often. This was purchased at an estate of a former Coca Cola Manager. Display is 8" wide 6"deep and 9" tall. Stand is Lucite. Very good condition can has a couple really dents or indentations. Very Rare Coca Cola First Taste in Space July 31, 1985 Shuttle Challenger
Obtained from a Coca Cola executive, this can, with display, is a part of space exploration history as well as the history of the "Cola Wars". Developed for the flight of the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1985. You can see the condition from the photos. There are two small dents on the can which are pictured. There is also a nylon filament running around the top seam of the can. I don't know what this is for, but I assume it's originally part of the piece. Purchase price refunded if item is not as described.

Coca Cola : First Taste In Space Can.
I am told this is a rare find. This is a 1985 coca cola first taste in space can. I'm assuming this is a replica of the original because they state only 6-10 actually made it into space. It's in very good shape with minor scratches and a dent the size of a number #2 pencil lead. If you would like more pictures please send me a message requesting them. In 1985, Coca Cola created a special Coke can to be used to experiment the dispensing of carbonated drinks in space. It was flown on the Space Shuttle Challenger (STS 51F). Pepsi, not to be outdone, developed their own (not as sophisticated) version, and both versions were flown on STS 51F.
