1950's Coca Cola Light Up Sign - Near Mint Condition
1950's Coca Cola Light Up Sign - Near Mint Condition
SOLD $1,176.00 Sold: May 2, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
You are bidding on a near mint light-up Coca Cola sign from the 1950's. The sign works perfect and has vibrant colors on both the glass and the metal case. There are no scratches on the case, (see pics 5-8) (top, bottom and both sides), the original glass is perfect, the on/off switch works perfect, as well as the 2 florescent lights on the inside. The 3 gold labels on the back (see pic 8) are perfect with no pealing or flaking. The only flaw is a discoloration spot on the top left side of the glass between the S and the E on the inside (see pics 10-12). I could have made a repair on it and no one would have known the difference, but I don't operate that way. If I was keeping this sign for myself, I would think about making the minor repair to this area using a small piece, approx. 1/2" of white typewriter correction tape, but then again I would probably just leave it alone and enjoy what a 70 year old sign looks like. Most of these signs have cracks in the glass, yellow discoloring of the glass due to excessive burning of the lights, and flaking of the red letters also due to excessive heat from the lights. Remember this sign is old, and the sign as well as old advertising clocks should never be lit for extensive periods of time, otherwise the paint may begin to crack, peal and discolor. The Trade Mark Registered is also vibrant in color being black with no flaking (see pic 9). The original cord is in perfect condition, and is also attached.I bought this out of a Coca Cola collectors collection who recently passed away, and it looks WELL taken care of, and would be an excellent addition to the true Coca Cola or advertisement collector. I will sell this light at whatever the final price brings. I will not have a reserve or a stupid starting bid.Shipping will be $50. If the shipping is higher due to extra insurance I will pay the difference. If the shipping is lower I will refund the difference to the buyer in cash. Looks like a win, win situation for shipping. I WILL NOT SHIP OUTSIDE THE CONTINENTAL U.S. DUE TO HIGHER SHIPPING COSTS AND ISSUES WITH LOSS OR BREAKAGE TO ITEMS. I WILL ONLY SHIP OUTSIDE THE U.S. IF YOU USE THE GLOBAL SHIPPING PROGRAM THROUGH E-BAY.On Apr-26-24 at 19:15:07 PDT, seller added the following information:I ve had a few people ask for the dimensions and weight. The sign is: 19.5" W x 8.5" H x 4" D. It weighs approx. 8 pounds (Condition: Pre-Owned)
Note: This item has been sold and is no longer available. This page serves as a historical price reference for Coca Cola collectors and appraisers.
