Vintage Coca Cola Coke Cooler By Progress AND Full Bottle Thermometer NEVER USED
Vintage Coca Cola Coke Cooler By Progress AND Full Bottle Thermometer NEVER USED
SOLD $699.99 Sold: Nov 4, 2024 on eBayOriginal Listing Description
This beautiful cooler has never been used as a cooler. We lovingly displayed it in our home for a few years, but it has been safely packed away since 1994.It absolutely has never had water, ice or drinks in it.The thermometer came with it (see story below) and it will be included in your purchase along with the pan.The thermometer measures about 16.5 inches tall and is marked Robertson. It's time for it to be loved by someone who will be as proud of it as we were. Here's the story on this beauty:In the earl 1980s (I believe 1983) I went to a live farm auction near my aunt's home in Canaan Indiana. We were so far out in the sticks that the dilapidated farmhouse had never had utilities. The owners had passed away and the heirs were selling all of the assets. There was not alot of interest and honestly, we were only there because I was visiting my aunt, and it was nearby. In the middle of a farm wagon was an uninteresting cardboard box only marked Progress Refrigerator Company Louisville, KYThe rest of the wagon was filled with what appeared to be the contents of a shed or barn.Shortly after the auction started it began to rain, not hard but enough that lots of people left. There was probably only less than a dozen people left including me and my three aunts.I climbed up on the wagon to peek in the box and happily recognized what it held instantly. The auctioneer speeded up and sold everything around the perimeter of the wagon quickly. Then offered the rest of the goodies as one lot.I got it all! Surprisingly I don't remember a single other thing.Inside the cooler in a separate box (included) was the thermometer. Double score Unfortunately the box that had protected the cooler for many years was already fragile and disintegrated from the rain. (Condition: Pre-Owned)
